“Then and Now,” artwork by Elizabeth House McClung will be on display March 28th through May 1st, 2019 at the Highland County Library Gallery . The opening reception for the artist will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7th.

From the artist:

It is a blessing and a privilege to live in Highland County.  That is why my recent work celebrates nature all around us – the flowers, seed pods and landscape features found in our yard, fence lines and meadow.  While creating studies for paintings, really looking at natural forms for long periods of time, one becomes more observant overall. Drawing materials and watercolors are portable and fluid mediums, perfect for capturing the wonders of our natural world.

In earlier years, when I had access to professional printmaking studios, I enjoyed exploring mythological  and sacred themes.  Intaglio etchings provided the complexity, detail and mysterious qualities necessary for expressing these subjects.  The process of making them visual was absorbing and fun.

“The world is so full of a number of things, I’m sure we should all be happy as kings.”

– Robert Louis Stevenson
